4.27.2020 A Note from Mrs. Hackmeyer and Mr. Moore: Graduation and Celebrations for the Class of 2020

To the Families of the Class of 2020,

May is always an exciting time for our graduating eighth graders! Although the end of this school year is like no one anticipated or would have liked, we have plans to celebrate the Class of 2020 throughout the month of May. It is very important that we celebrate this class in extra-special ways. We don’t want to share too many specifics, as some of the activities planned for the 8th graders are surprises; however, we are certain that all of Woodland, in particular the middle school teachers and staff, are dedicated to making this a memorable time. We are committed to creating memories that will last a lifetime!

Although this year we are unable to celebrate graduation in person on May 20th, we have scheduled two unique and special graduation events. First, we have secured the services of Behind the Scenes, an events, fulfillment, logistics, and media production company to help us plan a very nice virtual graduation event on Wednesday, May 20th at 6:00pm. We felt it was important to acknowledge our students’ successes, accomplishments, hard work, and dedication at the scheduled graduation time and before summertime had begun and the pull of high school is in full effect.

In addition to the Graduation event on May 20th, we are planning a Class of 2020 Graduation Celebration on July 18th. This celebration will allow for some of those all-important photo opportunities and a chance to put a nice close to the 2019-2020 school year for the Class of 2020. The exact details of this event will largely depend on where Shelby County is in regards to the health and safety restrictions in our area. We believe graduation is an essential and important piece to the Woodland experience and although it will look different this year, we are committed to making these two graduation events memorable. I hope all of you will join us this month as we celebrate the Class of 2020!

Please send us photos of your graduates during the month of May and make plans to attend these important celebrations with your students!

Sincerely,

Angie Hackmeyer
