Bachelors of Early Childhood Education, TN licensure

Ms. Stephanie Street

I'm so excited to be your teacher for this year! I graduated from Haywood High School in Brownsville, TN in 1980 (yes, go ahead and do the math) and began college in Dallas, Texas where I attended the University of Texas, Arlington campus. I possess a Bachelors of Early Childhood Education from Western Governors University with licensure in the state of Tennessee. I have taught twos for nearly twenty-three years now and yes, still love it. Twos are my passion!

In this one year, more than 70% of their cognitive skills will emerge and develop so this is an important year for getting those little brains started on a positive pathway to learning. This year, we will learn to LEARN by playing, socializing and slowly introducing the rudimentary skills they need to progress to the next grade. It is something I've devoted myself to and am committed to through learning new ways to teach and by keeping up with the latest research in development.

My family is small but very important to me. I have one son, Dylan, who is now twenty-six and the light of my life! He lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I have two lovely dogs, a crazy but elderly Weimeraner--Zoey--and a happy-go-lucky mut named Bailey. We lost my Dad in March 2018 and my Mom lives with me in Germantown where we like to go shopping and "junking" together. My sister and her husband are also close by and provide lots of love and support (and shopping trips)! I love art and music and being with my friends and church family. I am also a visual learner and understand that children need someone to show them as well as tell them what they need to know. I am patient to a fault (unless you see me at Target or Walmart, where I lose ALL PATIENCE). So if you see me at either place, wave and duck for cover!! Haha!

I consider myself to be a very accessible teacher. I believe my job is as much to help parents get through this crucial first year of school as it is to help the children in my care develop those critical school skills needed for future development. I am always here if you need me and always willing to help a child (or a mom or dad) who's struggling. We're in this together and we're BETTER TOGETHER!
